Howto build a shared server using KVM. The Host OS will run Debian 4.0, use KVM and ethernet bridging to enable multiple users to run their own isolated Guest OS. The Host OS will run a custom-made Linux kernel, because the default kernel shipped with Debian 4.0 does not support KVM. Additionally the Host OS will be configured to boot and shutdown the Guest VM's (virtual machines) safely (by init.d script). Futhermore secure console access to the VM's will be available by VNC through a ssh tunnel.
